When it comes down to it, you gotta do what you gotta do when it comes to responsibilities. And I am not even saying that kids take boat loads of time, all that I am saying is that sometimes the time is not available and things get left undone. With that being said, I find myself also putting school off to make sure that my son has me for the time he needs. Which then I ask myself if I even have time for school when my son is developing so rapidly and needed a bit more in depth attention!
It just makes you wonder if you are doing things right and for the best of your children. Which, I am SURE that everything is how it is supposed to be. The other quest is how do you keep yourself from wondering these things? Or are you the only one that thinks about the issues of time when it comes to raising kids?
I know that I would not change anything that I am doing, only because everything that I am working for is to secure my wife and sons health and living. There are motives behind the actions, and for those reasons you find yourself making worthwhile decisions and compromises that are both beneficial and harmful in ways.
Just make sure you are happy with you because you are doing what you can. I am still learning about all of this and I thought it might be interesting to see others opinions about the topic.
Balancing work, school and family life is a struggle, it's nice to see this is an issue for dads too, as so much is always focused on moms. There are days my girls tell me I don't pay enough attention to them and then there are days my house looks like a cyclone went through it because I'd rather play with them than do housework.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with ya Val. It's a either or and sometimes the or is the best...even if it leaves you wishing you have done the either instead haha. And yea, us Dads take the heat too! =D
DeleteMy wife and I work alternate shifts so we don't pay for daycare. So both of us take his wrath at our given times of the day. It is definitely an interesting way to go about our days!
